FAQ’s

Do I have to get undressed?

Depending upon your chief complaint we may be able to work with you fully clothed. We recommend coming dressed in athletic wear. Some issues require us to work in direct contact with your soft tissue. When this happens you will be under covers and only the area we need to work with will be uncovered.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

We take both HSA and FSA in our office. Sometimes it is necessary to pay initially and submit your receipt after the session. Check with your provider to see what they require.

Do you take Insurance?

Some insurance companies do allow for medical massage. We recommend that you check with your provider regarding the details and requirements for this service.

How many sessions will I need?

Each person is unique and factors like the time you have had your issue, how many other systems are involved in your issue and how you respond to massage are all factors that will need to be considered. Once you come in and we can assess your current situation we can give you a better understanding of how long it may take.

If I see one practitioner do I have to stay with that person or can I see others in your office?

We frequently share clients in our office depending upon your needs and level of service or specialty required to help you heal. We all work together to make sure you are getting exactly what is required for your best outcome.

How do I know who to book my session with?

We have three levels of providers in our office, all are fully licensed practitioners who are capable of Relaxation Massage but where we shine is helping clients deal with pain issues especially those who have struggled to find a solution for their pain with other practitioners.

Senior Resident Therapist

Our Senior Resident Therapists have completed our year long training and are now seeing clients regularly in our office. No matter where you issue lies, our Senior Resident Therapists are able to identify and address most root causes.

Master Therapist

Master Therapists have completed over 1000 hours of additional master level continuing education and a minimum of 800 hours of hands on sessions to hone their skills. If you are looking for a higher level of treatment I would suggest booking with a Master Therapist.

Elite Therapist

Our Elite Therapists bring the most experience and skills to the table and provide training to the other therapists. If you feel your problem is complicated, our Elite Therapist may be the best place to start.

Do you have evening hours?

Several of our therapists work evening hours and some weekend hours. Please check on-line for availability. If you don’t see a time that works for you please feel free to contact us as we can add you to our cancellation list or see if we can find a place for you.

How is Medical Massage different from the Massage I get on vacation?

Most spa massages are therapeutic in nature and designed to relax the entire body. Relaxation massage is usually a head to toe massage with the goal of dropping you into your rest and digest (parasympathetic) system.

Medical massage is an outcome based massage session designed to focus on a specific area or problem. Measurements and assessments will be done before and after the session to monitor the effectiveness of the therapy. This type of massage is designed to work at the cause of your pain and not to just address the symptom. This usually takes more than one session but usually within 3 to 5 sessions you will know if soft tissue is your main problem. Most clients will feel the greatest amount of relief from the first session depending on the issue.

Will Medical Massage help?

If you have seen the Doctor, Chiropractor, or even other Massage Therapists without resolution of your issue, Medical Massage may be the answer to your pain predicament. Soft tissue dysfunction rarely shows up on traditional scans or x-rays and without the specific training of Medical Massage most traditional Massage Therapists will only work to alleviate the symptoms you feel.

Do I need a doctor's referral to be seen?

90 percent of our clients are by referral but a referral is not necessary to book a session with us. If you have questions about who to start with or if Medical Massage is for you, you can take the quiz above or call/text or email us and we will be happy to get you started in the right direction.

What kind of training do you have?

We combine several massage modalities to create a layered approach to your treatment. We start by releasing scar tissue which then allows nerves and muscles to move more naturally without pulling or unnecessary restriction. This is achieved through a process of microcurrent technologies both A/C and D/C currents. We follow that with tissue release using medical cupping and manual scar tissue release. We then follow our clinical assessments which will lead to soft tissue release including lymphatic drainage, Orthopedic Massage, Precision Neuromuscular Therapy, Nerve Release Treatments, Myofascial Release and Visceral Release. In some instances it is necessary to reorganize the way the brain deals with the patterns in your body in which case Cortical Field Re-education is employed to literally change your brain patterning through somatic movements.

Can I see you while I am being treated by a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist?

Most issues are not resolved by only one practitioner. We work hand in hand with other practitioners to ensure a positive outcome for you. Once you have signed a disclosure agreement we can freely communicate with your other providers to create a comprehensive treatment plan that enhances the work you are doing with everyone on your care team.

Our philosophy is a three legged stool. You will need a Chiropractor to put bones where they belong, as long as your muscles are evenly balanced the bones will stay in place. If your muscles are too contracted they will pull the bones out of place and create a cascading effect throughout the body. Muscles may also be too weak or lengthened in which case you will need a physical therapist or Personal Trainer to help. We are very good at understanding what is happening in the body and if it is not within our scope to help you we have several well vetted and trusted partners to refer you to depending upon your needs. It is our goal to get you to your best outcome, even if it doesn’t include our services.

Can Medical Massage replace drugs or prevent surgeries?

In some cases we can address the soft tissue that is creating your pain issue and you will not need further care. In other instances, we can get you to a state that allows you to postpone a surgical intervention or alleviate the need for drugs. We recognize that all dysfunction may not be soft tissue related and don’t hesitate to refer you to another provider if needed. Our only goal is a positive outcome in your journey to full function.
